Good Morning!
Today is the birthday of August Derleth (1909
– 1971) who said:
“Children accept many
things adults will not accept, since the world of a child is a constant
revelation without any need for knowledge of cause and effect.”
It is also the birthday of Steve Jobs (1955 –
2011) who said:
“Remembering that you
are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have
something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your
heart.”
and
“Things don’t have to
change the world to be important.”
and
“If you don’t love
something, you’re not going to go the extra mile, work the extra weekend,
challenge the status quo as much.”
and
“Your time is
limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by
dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let
the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most
important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow
already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
and
"Here’s to the crazy
ones — the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square
holes. The ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules. You can
quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you
can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race
forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because
the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the
ones who do."
“I'm against
picketing, but I don't know how to show it.”
and
“I want to hang a map
of the world in my house, and then I’m gonna put pins into all the locations
that I’ve traveled to. But first I’m gonna have to travel to the top two
corners of the map, so it won’t fall down.”
and
“I saw this wino, he
was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to wait."
